ANSM decision ⚕️

Why the ban?

In an article published on May 24, 2024, the French National Agency for Medicines and Health Products Safety (ANSM) decided to ban certain cannabinoids, such as H4-CBD, THC-P, and HHCP-O, effective June 3, 2024. They have therefore been added to the list of prohibited substances.

More specifically, the ban targets semi-synthetic cannabinoids—natural substances that have undergone modifications. These include H4-CBD and H2-CBD, as well as certain derivatives formed from the benzo[c]chromene ring. This category also includes HHC, HHCO, HHCP, HHCP-O, THC-P, and THC-A. But that’s not all. The ban also extends to synthetic cannabinoids—substances created entirely in a laboratory. All forms of these substances—whether resins, oils, candies, or other forms—are now banned.

This decision by the ANSM comes in response to health and safety concerns. Indeed, the inappropriate use of these substances can pose health risks, ranging from adverse effects to the risk of addiction.
